Journaling ...

AmberA couple of weeks back my husband and I were "Ma & Pa" on our youth Handcart Trek.  We were lucky to have the chance to go to Martin's Cove and Rocky Ridge.  While we were listening to a really cute missionary (retirement age) he said something that I thought to myself "I need to share that on the AMM blog".  Are you wondering what it is?

Here goes:  He said that the reason that we know what happened to the handcart pioneers is because of the journals they kept & left for us.  We wouldn't know about the struggles they went through had they not kept them.  He then asked us what our ancestors would know about us in 150 years ... would they know we existed?  Would they know more about us than our name?  What kind of a legacy are we going to leave?

I've thought about that a lot.  It was my 12th wedding anniversary on August 3.  I thought it would be really funny to share my first scrapbook pages with you as our wedding was the big event that got me scrapbooking (at least for a year before I gave it up ... long story).

Scrapbook_1_2 Scrapbook_2 Scrapbook_3_2 Scrapbook_4 Scrapbook_5 Scrapbook_6 Scrapbook_7 Scrapbook_8 Scrapbook_9_3 Let's see ... nice use of ephemera, stamps & stickers ... a handwritten note from my sweetheart (nice touch) ... handwritten captions by some photos ... the small to large squares are dandy ... good idea to have the Anti-Marriage For Right Now contract & approved cartoon.

What's missing?  Cool paper?  Flowers?  Swirls?  BROWN?  No ... journaling.  When I'm gone no one will know why I put this together the way I did.  The Contract, the frog kissing pictures, the Draper Bank ID & handwritten notes are meaningless without the journaling explaining their significance!  Viva la Journaling!  Amber
